DIYs & Gift Ideas for Dogs (and Dog Lovers)
Are you a dog lover? I’m definitely a dog person and will be a dog person for life. We have a German Shepherd named Gracie. She was given to us over three years ago and she’s the first dog our family has had, but we have dog sat for friends many, many times, and there’s not a doggo I haven’t loved (although the one who ate our shoes and iPhone chargers put that love to the test, ha!)
Today I’m sharing some great sewing projects and DIY crafts and recipes that you can make for your dog, AND some good ol’ store bought gift ideas too. I hope you enjoy them and find new ways to spoil your pups with these cute ideas ;)

Let’s start with the sewing projects for dogs …
First up, Ellie and Mac has a dog hoodie pattern! Oh my, so cute. Gracie has plenty of fur to keep her warm, but if I had a less hairy dog, I’d for sure being dressing it up in cute doggie sweaters and this hoodie would be on the top of my to-sew list. So cute.
Second, I posted a dog bandana tutorial earlier this year and it’s currently my third most pinned post on Pinterest! Its popularity is what led me to believe y’all might like more dog sewing ideas and hence the post. This bandana slides onto your dog’s collar and has a secret ingredient that keeps it from bunching up.
Denim makes great dog toys and is a great way to upcycle worn out jeans. There are all kinds of cute ideas for these, but I really like the bone shaped dog toys you can make from your old jeans.
Here’s a tutorial for a dog collar in 4 sizes. How fun to get to choose the fabric for your pup’s collar!
The cutest bow tie tutorial for dapper doggos.
Poop bags are essential for dog walking, but so easy to forget. Here’s a tutorial for a poop bag holder that you can clip to the leash.
Moving on to crafts for dogs…
Okay, this is more for dog owners than for dogs, but paw print art is just the cutest! My daughter tried this with Gracie and our outdoor rug was stained with purple paint forever thereafter, but it was worth it!
A DIY snuffle mat is a popular craft for dogs. They love these things and it’s so funny to watch them shake it!
If you love outdoor adventures with your pup, this mini DIY dog first aid kit is a great and important idea.
And recipes for dogs …
Peanut butter dog treats. Gracie LOVES peanut butter.
Here are a bunch of fun filler ideas for a Kong.
More gift ideas for dogs …
Since it’s Christmastime at the time I’m writing this and I unashamedly admit thst my dog has her own Christmas stocking hung right up there with ours, here are some great store bought gift ideas for your dogs:
The fact that a Nerf tennis ball blaster exists seriously makes my day!!
A leak proof portable water dispenser is a great idea.
A portable paw washer is an equally good idea.
Yeti makes dog bowls!! Non slip ones, to boot.
Lick mats. So you can put peanut butter on the bathtub wall and trick your dog into the tub. Brilliant.
Gourmet dog treats shaped like macarons. So adorable.
Write me a comment and tell me about your doggies, I want to know! Do you buy your dog gifts? How many treats a day is too many? How did you get your dog and how did you name him/her?
Cheers!
Nikki (and Gracie too :)
