How to Sew Reusable Fabric Gift Bags

Wouldn’t it be so great if you had a stash of gift bags in all sizes that you can reuse for your family year after year, holiday after holiday, that don’t get ripped up or thrown away? Yes, I agree!

I’ve been wanting to create this video tutorial for such a long time, and I’m so glad I finally did it because now I have a great stash of gift bags in multiple sizes, from tiny to huge. They’re going to come in so handy this Christmas!

This sewing tutorial is beginner friendly and once you learn to make one, you’ll be able to make all the size, batch sew a bunch, and even adapt the size to your specific gifty needs (like wrapping basketballs, haha!) I included six sizes, from extra small for things like jewelry and ornaments, to extra large, and even a wine bottle bag size.

Watch the video tutorial below AND also grab the printable version of this pattern in my shop or on Etsy if you prefer. The PDF version includes a chart of cutting instructions for six different sizes, so I’ve done all the work for you ;)

Of course, these gift bags don’t have to live out their lives in the wrapping paper closet. They can be made and used as drawstring bags for all kinds of things, so really, it’s a gift within a gift when you give one to somebody. I know if I’d made these when my kids were little, they would have found all kinds of uses for them! So make it fun by using personal fabrics the recipients are sure to love.

I hope you love this project! I found it so helpful to make a big batch in the summertime so I’ll be ready when Christmas comes. I’d love to sew up some more in fun birthday fabrics to have on hand too! Don’t forget to grab the PDF pattern from my shop!

Cheers and Happy Sewing :)
