Sewing Patterns for Bitty Baby Doll Clothes
Even thought my kids are all teens now, doll clothes are still some of my favorite things to sew and I do so whenever I have the chance! While it’s super easy to find plenty of patterns for 18” dolls like American Girl (I even sell a few in my own shop!), I’ve realized it’s much harder to find clothes for less common dolls like Bitty Baby.
If you’re unfamiliar, Bitty Baby is American Girl’s baby doll. It’s such a sweet baby doll and you can order it to look how you want. My mom ordered one for each of her granddaughters’ first birthdays, so my girls each have one with fair skin and blue eyes, just like them. Mom continued to make clothes for the Bitty Babies for many years to come and, of course we still have them. (You can also order Bitty Twins!)
While you can of course order plenty of clothes for Bitty Baby from American Girl, we all know they won’t be cheap! Plus, it’s so much fun and way more special to make a baby doll wardrobe yourself. Doll clothes make great little gifts for little ones too, for the birthdays, Easter baskets or Christmas stockings. Plus, with a few trusty patterns on hand, if you use scraps, doll clothes can cost little or nothing to make.
Since two of my most popular posts last year were my ultimate lists of Barbie clothes and Build-a-Bear clothes patterns, I thought I’d create a round up of Bitty Baby patterns today. I’ve corralled the best of the best to share with you, so I hope you enjoy :)
