7 Quick Gifts to Sew for Mother’s Day
Quilted Bookmarks
These are one of my favorite small gifts to make and they fit nicely into an envelope, so if you’re mailing a card, it would be so sweet to add a bookmark or two. Bookmarks are also one of my favorite little gifts to receive! I’m a big reader, so when my kids ask what I want for gifts and because I know they don’t have much if any money to spend, I usually say I’d love them to make me some bookmarks.

Journal Covers
These sweet journal covers are designed to fit the Moleskine Cahier Journals, which come in a 3 pack. I use these journals constantly and for various purposes. Since I made covers for them, I can actually tell which is which! The covers can be made with or without a bookmark or pen holder, and with a solid fabric or pieced together.

Tote Bag
This is one of my most recent tutorials and I’ve been making tote bags like crazy! After designing the tote for the basic pattern, I turned a few fabric panels and quilt blocks into unique tote bags to give as gifts. I absolutely love the variety of my totes and they’ll make such great and personal gifts for my loved ones. The printable pattern will teach you to make this blank slate tote bag and the video walkthrough has clear instructions for how to piece together the bag with various fabrics, panels or quilt blocks!
Tea Towels
Last year for Mother’s Day, I made my mom and mother-in-law sets of tea towels with a fun strawberry print. They loved them and I recently made a video tutorial for that project when I wanted to make a set for my own home. These kitchen towels have cute details like trim or ruffles and with all the fabric prints available, they’re very versatile and easy to customize!

Classic Apron
My mom and I have been sewing the same basic bib apron for decades! These aprons are tried and true gifts for both of us and my recent tutorial will teach you how to draft and sew a basic apron (with pockets, of course!) for any size person.

Oversized Hot Pads
This is far and away the most popular tutorial and video I have ever released and with good reason! If you’ve ever found yourself piecing tiny hot pads together to put your hot baking sheet or casserole dish on, you need this extra large hot pad in your life. And chances are, so do the moms in your life!

Pot Holder Mitts
These are my favorite style of pot holders/oven mitts to use. They have pockets to protect the hands, but store much more easily in a drawer than my bulky oven mitts. And of course, they double as hot pads too. So versatile! I’ve made batches of these for gifts in the past. They sew up quick and are always well received.

There you have it, seven simple gifts to make for Mother’s Day! Many of these gift ideas are scrap friendly, which is an added bonus when you’re short on time or funds, and all can be mailed in a small package, so you can save money at the post office.
I hope this has been helpful and inspiring :)
