How to Shop for Men on Etsy
I used to struggle so much with buying gifts for my husband! Men are notoriously hard to buy for for a myriad of reasons, but several years ago I hit the jackpot when I discovered I could find the absolute coolest gifts for my husband on Etsy! I’m going share my tricks of the man-gifts trade with you today and by the end, hopefully I’ll convince you that you can shop successfully for ANY man in your life on Etsy.

If you’re a woman and a crafty one, at that, you may only be aware of the girlie, crafty stuff Etsy has to offer, but it has soooo much more than that. All you need is a good idea of your man’s interests and you’ll be on your way. You’ll probably end up with too many ideas!
Here are some of the things my husband is into:
Star Wars (he’s the serious kind of fan, talks about “the canon” and all that stuff).
Video games
Guitar
Music, composers, music theory, composition
Vinyl records
Harry Potter
Certain TV shows like Seinfeld and The Office
Woodworking
House projects
His wood burning fireplace
Colorado (our home state)
Once you pinpoint a few things the man you’re shopping is into, the rest is easy. Simply type it into the Etsy search bar and see what comes up, OR add one of the following to narrow it down:
art
gifts
magnets
gadgets
tools
mugs
barware
glass
clothing
collectibles
blankets
For example, if I type in “fireplace gadgets”, this cool lighter comes up. My husband would like something like this and it would look nicer on the mantle than the little blow torch he currently uses.
Let’s try another one. My dad is into drumming, so when I type in “drummer gifts”, I get all kinds of fun ideas. Personalized drumsticks, a wallet, a drumstick bag, coffee mugs, t-shirts, a tie tack. Those are just a few!
The best and maybe most unexpected thing you can find on Etsy for men, though, is art! I have bought my husband some very cool Star Wars art over the years. It’s the kind of stuff that is beautiful enough to frame and hang in our home. So far I’ve purchased this print and this matching one (both from this talented seller), and they’re hanging in black frames in our family room. This year I’m going to buy him this Darth Vader print for his office. He’s going to LOVE it! Fan art from truly talented artists is something we can all appreciate.
Here are some of the other Etsy gifts I’ve bought for my husband in the past:
An etched Gryffindor stein, personalized with his name, purchased from this great shop. At the time, he was learning to make White Russians, so this was his favorite mug for that.
Another year, I added to the barware collection with some video game themed etched shot glasses. These don’t get a ton of use here because we don’t do shots on a regular basis, ha!, but he uses his awesome Scotch Trooper glass for his scotch more often!
One year I found a set of composer magnets and they were a big hit! Sets of magnets make great stocking stuffers.
He has some favorite tank tops from Etsy, including a pretty cool Slytherin Quidditch one (I have the matching Hufflepuff Quidditch shirt). I can’t find that shop now, but this shop looks like it has some great Harry Potter options and lots of others too! Men can be choosey about their fabrics (as they should be!), so I look for shops that use nice fabrics, not the bulky, shrinky, cheap thick cotton shirts.
The next few items are from shops that are no longer on Etsy, but they’re still great ideas and may spark some good ideas for you!
I bought him a key chain bottle opener with a favorite quote from The Office on it one year and he still has it on his key chain!
Vinyl decals are always fun. I bought Casey a Star Wars one for his iPad. These decals are popular for Hydroflasks or similar water bottles also.
I also bought him some “Trust me, I’m a Jedi” pins. Etsy has pins for every single interest, it’s true. Enamel pins are especially popular right now.
And, possibly my most epic find, I scored the original Star Wars soundtrack on vinyl one year! So don’t forget Etsy isn’t just for handmade good, it’s also for vintage items.
Here’s what I’m thinking about buying my husband from Etsy this year for Christmas:
This guitar pick punch set. He can punch guitar picks out of gifts cards, or anything that would work. Pretty cool!
He would love this cool Circle of Fifths artwork.
This Boba Fett poster is awesome!!
Oh my gosh, this t-shirt is perfect. Casey is a proud ginger and we love Stranger things.
Haha, this Ginja Ninja shirt is pretty awesome too.
Casey’s a Colorado Native, so something from this shop would be pretty cool.
I have some Harry Potter fabric ready to go to make him a new pillowcase (yep, grown men love fun pillowcases.)
He loves fancy, manly soap, so I love this gift set of Beer Soap.
I could go on and on, it’s too easy! I really hope this has sparked some inspiration for you on how to Christmas shop for men! Etsy seriously has the most unique and creative gifts for all interests and you’ll be supporting small handmade businesses too, which is cool.
