10 Pineapple Quilt and Quilt Blocks Patterns (and some are even FREE!)

I became very fond of pineapples during our years living in Hawaii! I felt like pineapples were going to be a short lived trend, but now I think pineapples will just always be cool. I saw one person recently with a tiny pineapple tattoo on her finger, it was super cute.

I’ve made a couple of fun pineapple block mini quilts and thought I’d share those today, along with a little round up of great pineapple quilt patterns! Traditionally, a “pineapple quilt block” refers to a particular quilt block style that’s a variation of a courthouse steps block, and tends to give off spikey pineapple vibes. But this list of pineapple quilt patterns will be patterns for actual pineapple blocks, in the literal fruit sense!

First up is the FREE Patchwork Pineapple Mini Quilt Pattern from Sassafrass Lane! I taught a group class of ladies who were total sewing beginners to make this mini quilt and it was a smashing success. Mini quilts take such small amounts of fabrics, making these a perfect way to use your favorite small scraps — the ones you can’t bear to waste even a tiny square of!

I love this Pineapple Paradise PDF Quilt Pattern. If you’d like instructions for a full quilt, and a large one at that, this one will do the trick! Love those colors on the pattern cover too.
Elizabeth Hartman’s Pineapple Farm Quilt Pattern is so lovely. The piecing of the blocks is different than others I’ve seen and I love the simplicity of it. This one’s a paper pattern, which I know a lot of quilters prefer.
Here’s another FREE Candied Pineapple quilt block pattern for the Fabric.com blog. This one has different piecing and a taller crown than the one I made. Love it.
This Giant Pineapple Quilt Pattern is just too fun and it’s also FREE!
The Pineapple Pop Quilt Pattern might be a favorite for me. I love the stripes and the unique color placement. Plus, it’s a beginner friendly pattern, which I always love see, as it’s a goal of mine when I create sewing patterns for my shop, that they won’t frustrate beginners.
The Pineapple Paradise Pattern is just so beautiful, especially if you’re a quilter who loves quilting with batiks. Such rich and pretty colors.
You know I love a good paper piecing project! All the heart eyes for this super cute Fresh Pineapple Paper Piecing pattern. What a fun way to use special fabrics with cute little scenes.
I can’t resist including this paper pieced pineapple pattern too. Love it. Wouldn’t these paper pieced little pineapples make the cutest quilted zipper pouches?
Lastly, you don’t even necessarily need an official pattern to make a pineapple mini quilt! In the below photo, you can see the pineapple I made using the free-piecing methods I learned in the book, Out of the Box with Easy Blocks. I’ve had a lot of fun with that book over several years and I love the freedom of creating on the fly and just seeing how it turns out.
