New Makes Week!! #3
This will be quick one today because it’s pretty simple and I only have one photo of me wearing it. But I’ve actually worn it three times since I made it a couple week ago!
Let me just say, my Savers (thrift store) reopened yesterday and I took my girls because they need some Summer clothes. I didn’t buy myself anything because we couldn’t try anything on. Other stores are the same, no fitting rooms are open and they’re not accepting returns. While some people may be able to purchase clothes with that kind of confidence, I cannot! I was suddenly SO GLAD I can sew. I can have new Summer clothes to wear, and one-of-a-kind, to boot!
On to today’s new make:
This top is from a light weight cotton from Hobby Lobby’s Spring fashion line. Again, if you’re not sure how I’m finding these amazing garment fabrics at Hobby Lobby, read my post here. The pattern is New Look 6292 and the only alteration I made was to move the pockets up and in because the pattern markings had them at a really weird placement. I did make a muslin, but didn’t’ need to make any changes, not even a full bust adjustment. I figured that would be the case since it’s not very fitted on the model, and I was right.
I will never make the other garments on this pattern, but at $4 for New Look patterns at Hobby Lobby, it was still worth the purchase for this one basic pattern. I’m starting to wonder about the future of the Big 4 patterns as far as the notorious sale prices go. I know the pattern sale prices at Joann have changed in recent months to a few dollars more than we’ve been used to for decades now, but now I wonder how they’ll survive the Covid situation. I’ve noticed they aren’t putting any Summer offerings up online yet, so it just has me wondering. Luckily we have Indie options, but I will miss the Big 4 if they ever go away completely or become out of reach financially. We’ll see, I guess! Do you have thoughts on the future of Big 4 patterns?
See you tomorrow with an awesome recently sewn dress!
Cheers :)
Don’t stress, make a plan!
